The Winnipeg School Division (WSD) Board of Trustees has accepted the resignation of Trustee Allan Beach. Beach, a Trustee since 2014, is leaving the Board June 30 due to a change of residence outside of the division boundaries.

“We’re very sad to lose Trustee Beach from our Board and we wish him well in his new home,” said WSD Board of Trustees Chair, Mark Wasyliw. “He provided an excellent understanding of staff relations and brought thoughtful and reflective debate to our meetings.” Wasyliw notes that in his role, Mr. Beach has contributed greatly to a number of initiatives, including his most recent support in developing a partnership with the Safe Workers of Tomorrow to ensure that all students in Grades 9 and 10 receive basic workplace safety and health education and that the program include the Adult EAL students and students in the Adult Learning Centres. As of September 2016, all students in Grade 9 and 10 will receive basic workplace safety and health education training as part of a WSD-wide mandatory program. Trustee Beach’s motion for a young worker safety partnership will have a positive impact on students long into the future.

Trustee Beach is moving outside of the Winnipeg School Division boundaries and, under Public School Act Section 22, a trustee must be an actual resident in the school division in order to serve.
